Christmas Party
Bringing Toys to Andean Kids
A couple of years ago, one of our gourd carvers came to us with the idea of sponsoring a Christmas party in his village so their workshop could share their good fortune. We thought bringing gifts for the poorest kids in his village town was brilliant. It made us proud to know that after enjoying success from his work, Pablo was willing to open his house and bring Christmas cheer to over 100 children right in the neighborhoods where we work. So Lucuma Designs has been co-sponsoring the Christmas party since 2007, and brought toys for 100 kids in 2007, 120 in 2008 and now planning for 180 children to receive toys this 2009 Christmas.

Our local fair trade store
In February of 1995 six people sat around the dining table of Sandy and Doug's home in Sarasota, Florida, united in the passion of making a difference in the world. Most had been involved in a self-help store and saw the difference fair trade could make in the lives of low-income artisans around the globe.
Out of that meeting Artisans' World Marketplace was established to provide a fair trade presence in Sarasota for the entire Gulf Coast region. By serving as a non-profit retail outlet for fairly-traded goods from around the globe, Artisans’ World Marketplace seeks to provide opportunities for artisans worldwide, raise public awareness of and concern for economic justice, support sustainable economic development which protects our environment, and provide funding for projects which create jobs or provide job training for low-income disadvantaged persons.
Artisans' World Marketplace is providing a concrete way to respond to the global problems of poverty, hunger and our environment. We encourage and welcome you to experience the unique art and positive change we are making in our world.
