Luis Miguel Rojas Morales, Borucan Artist

mask artist Luis Miguel

“In 2007 I began creating masks, and from then on I have made sure to mix the emotions I wish to convey with the paints I use. I want my masks to make the Boruca culture known -- after all, our culture is very unique. I want my masks to help people feel what I feel.”

Luis Miguel has great passion for continuing the Boruca mask tradition and his work shows a distinctively sweet color palette. Although he is relatively young and new to the art of mask painting, he is lucky to have excellent artist mentors with experience to share within his family including Marcos, Domingo, Francisco and Neftali. When not painting, you may find Luis Miguel studying computers and technology.
