Emilio Granda Obando, Borucan Artist

mask artist Emilio

“Carving is my passion and a way of life. I started carving Boruca masks in 2009 thanks to my uncle and teacher, German. Now, for our traditional festivals, I help many young people in my community with their masks.”

Today, Emilio proudly creates his masks at Taller Brúncrin and has spent years perfecting his art. In his carvings, he is particularly fond of depicting birds and often goes to his favorite spot near their village by the water to enjoy nature and get inspired. In the future, he dreams of traveling to exotic places such as Machu Pichu, Peru to see beautiful landscapes.
